Manifest Your Vision, Lessons from a Plant

Like a flower, tree, or plant
your vision for your life begins beneath the surface
but grows strongest when exposed to the world.

Hidden from sight but growing, forming, and taking shape
It doesn’t despair that it hasn’t broken through the surface
That time will come
There is work to do beneath the surface
Getting and setting everything just right
Growing a web of roots for stability
Intermingling with the soil-
nutrients from things long gone

The roots absorb this, sending the chute upward
harnessing bountiful energy
preparing the seedling for the journey above the surface

Breaking through, a struggle
Gathering sunlight, gaining more energy,
but still barely noticed on the forest floor

Exposing itself to the world
Gathering the sun from the surface world
It’s roots grow deeper, gathering more energy from those long gone
Growing stronger, brighter, and more vibrant every day
both above and beneath the surface
Here it will stay for the season, giving what it can
and taking in kind

Until the day comes
when it starts the slow process back toward the ground
and gives itself back to the earth
leaving important nutrients for future generations
Contributing to the great cycle of life
