Selfish Altruism

I don’t believe that I have ever seen true altruism.  I’m not sure that it exists.  By this I mean that most times when people do a great deed or act for another – it makes them feel good as well.  This is selfish altruism.  Selfish altruism should be celebrated.  If you’re doing good work in the world but at the end of the day you feel terrible then by all means, seek to find the work that enables you to help others and that satisfies you personally.  Being satisfied with your work is a great gift to the world.

If every one sought to live a selfish altruistic life then that would be a good start to modeling a sustainable, just, and peaceful world.
